New Beneficiary and Family Centered Care Quality Improvement Organization (BFCC-QIO) in Minnesota

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) has restructured the Quality Improvement Organizations (QIO) to separate the QIO medical case review from the quality improvement work. There are now two separate structures.

The Quality Innovation Network QIO will handle quality improvement and technical assistance (StratisHealth) and Beneficiary Family Centered Care (BFCC-QIO) will handle the medical case review, beneficiary complaints and quality of care reviews (KEPRO).  

Beginning August 1, 2014, all relevant beneficiary appeals, including hospital observation appeals will need to go to KEPRO. Stratis Health will no longer manage beneficiary complaints, appeals and quality of care reviews. This includes the transfer of current StratisHealth cases and reviews to KEPRO.
